What Is The Difference Between The Saeco Poemia and Aroma?

If that table is a bit confusing to you, let’s break the difference down:

  • Design: the Poemia is plastic made, while the Aroma is in stainless steel housing which is more durable.
  • Features: The Aroma features a knob that allows you to control the intensity of the Espresso from mild to strong. The Poemia does not have this feature.
  • Water tank: the Aroma has an 80 oz water tank vs. a 34 oz water tank for the Poemia.

Similarities:

  • Both have a frothing wand that doubles as a hot water dispenser.
  • Both are compatible with ground coffee or E.S.E pods.
  • Both have the same pressurized filter and 15-bar pump pressure.

Which Is Best, the Saeco Aroma or Poemia and Why?

The Aroma machine wins for three reasons:

  • Its stainless steel housing that makes it more durable and easy to clean.
  • Its large water tank.
  • For the ability to tweak the flavor and intensity of your espresso shots

The Aroma is more expensive than the Poemia, so if it’s within your budget to buy a machine for a little under $300, the Aroma should definitely be your choice.

Saeco Aroma vs. Via Venezia, What’s The Difference?

Now we’ve established that the Saeco Aroma is better than the Poemia, we’ll compare it to another machine also by Saeco called the Via Venezia:

Philips Saeco Via Venezia Espresso Machine

  • Both the Aroma and Via Venezia are at around the same price range, with a little extra for the Via Venezia.
  • When it comes to operation, the Via Venezia uses button controls as well as a steam dial, just like the Aroma, only located differently. They look quite similar, too.
  • The water reservoir capacity on the Aroma is 85 oz, and the machine has a clear front window that shows you the level of the water. As for the Via Venezia, the capacity is 68 oz with no front-window.

Apart from the slight design difference and the water reservoir capacity, we can’t see any differences in the actual operation of the two machines. The Via Venezia is also available in both black and steel design, much like the Aroma.

DeLonghi and Saeco are two of the top leading brands in the world of home espresso machines. Both companies offer a wide variety of espresso machines to choose from, but which one is best for you? Here’s a quick comparison between the two brands:

Delonghi_logo

DeLonghi is an Italian brand that manufactures a wide range of home appliances, espresso machines included. Its espresso machine range includes small manual machines, semi-automatic and fully automatic machines, starting under $100 for the shopper on a small budget. While the engineering and design of the machine take place in Italy, many DeLonghi espresso machines are manufactured in China, especially smaller machines.

Here are some of the top-rated DeLonghi machine reviews and articles we’ve featured are:

Saeco

Saeco is an Italian brand as well, though it specializes in espresso and coffee machines and a few other coffee products. The brand was purchased by Dutch company Philips and became part of its family of products. Saeco machines now hold the name “Philips Saeco” instead of Saeco only. Most of Saeco’s espresso machines are Italian made, their range include semi-automatic and fully automatic espresso machines. They’re usually of higher quality, and they’re more durable. Although DeLonghi can seem to be a more popular brand than Saeco, it’s only because it offers low budget machines (under $100) that’s more accessible to many people. However, the quality of those machines are not comparable to Saeco’s, whose machines start at around $200+.

Saeco Poemia Manual Espresso Machine

Although there are many great automatic and semi-automatic espresso machines available, many people still prefer the use of a manual machine for its flexibility and the experimentation it allows when making coffee drinks. The Saeco Poemia Manual Espresso machine is one of these small manual machines that the barista wanna-be will enjoy using. Priced under $200, it’s a very budget friendly machine that you can start your journey of home-barista with.

Features:

  • 15 bar pump.
  • Pannarello wand for milk heating/frothing.
  • Dual portafilter.
  • Light indicators.
  • Cup warming tray

Super-automatic espresso machines come with a price tag of over $500, which does not fit many people’s budget. However, there is a small number of super automatics priced under $500* and it’s quite a steal. We’re featuring the best ones here.

What is  a Super-Automatic Espresso Machine?

An espresso machine is labelled as a super automatic when it features simple to use, push-button operating buttons, a built-in grinder, and a milk frothing system. It can make any coffee drink, with a push of a button, and as fresh as possible as it grinds only as much coffee you need to brew the drink you’re making. This ensures the freshest espresso crema and aroma, and the most delicious coffee drink possible!

A super-automatic is an all-in-one machine, and that’s why they’re quite pricey. Most ones are available at the price range of $700 and up to $2000 and more. So getting a super-automatic for under $500 really is quite a steal.

Here are the top rated super-automatic machines for under $500:

Philips Saeco Via Venezia Espresso Machine

The Saeco Via Venezia Espresso Machine is a manual espresso machine that makes a good entry-level machine for someone who is just starting to brew their espresso at home. Small in size, good features and does not require a lot work. This machine should be a quick-learn and perfect for a beginner.

Features of the Saeco Via Venezia Espresso Machine:

  • Light controls that show you when the machine is ready to extract and when it’s ready to steam.
  • Patented portafilter that ensures the best espresso extraction.
  • Compatible with ground coffee or E.S.E pods.
  • Steam wand for milk heating and frorthing. The wand is also used as a hot water dispenser.
  • 68 oz removable water tank.
  • Cup warming tray with 6 cups capacity.

Buy it From Amazon

Like previously mentioned, this is an entry-level espresso machine, so you can’t expect mind blowing features. However, it does exactly what it is supposed to do. You’ll be able to extract espresso – single or double shots – and you’ll be able to froth milk for delicious coffee drinks. The espresso brews with a touch of a button after you’ve added the ground coffee to the filter. After the espresso is brewed, the light indicator should show you when the machine is ready to steam, and that’s when you’ll be able to start frothing the milk for cappuccinos or lattes. If you’re not using the wand for milk frothing, you can use it to dispense hot water from the machine for tea or other hot beverages.

Saeco Via Venezia Espresso Machine_

What I’m not crazy about when it comes to theSaeco Via Venezia is that it’s built from plastic parts, which makes it less durable than some other machines. However, the same machine is available in a die-cast metal housing, which I HIGHLY recommend for a longer machine life-time. Other than that, you should exactly get what you’d expect from an entry-level machine.

There are other machines I would recommend over the Saeco Via Venezia Espresso Machine, even though they are in the same price range, they still perform better and are built better and are certainly more durable:

Breville ESP8XL Cafe Roma

Gaggia Baby Class

Philips Saeco Syntia Focus Automatic Espresso Machine The Philips Saeco Syntia Focus is an all-in-one automatic espresso machine with a built-in grinder and milk frother for under $1000* . If you’re looking for fresh and delicious coffee drinks with a touch of a button, you’ll love this one.

(*Price is correct as of writing of this post. Prices are subject to change by sellers)

Features:

  • Tri-color LED display for easy use and control. Different colors flash to indicate different functions of the machine.
  • Adjustable built-in grinder with ceramic disc (will never rust). Auto on/off function.
  • Removable 40 oz water tank.
  • Coffee hopper is very well sealed to ensure fresh beans for a long time.
  • Steam wand for each milk frothing.
  • Compact sleek design that fits anywhere on your counter top.
  • Stainless steel housing keeps the machine clean and makes it long-lasting.

Two of the most praised features on the Philips Saeco Syntia is the ease of use (really works with push-button features) and how quiet it is. Normally, an automatic machine such as this can be quite noisy – at least at grinding, but not this one! You’ll also love how adjustable it is. You will be able to program your preferred size of coffee cup without compromising the taste, since the grind is also adjustable, the correct amount of coffee with be used.

Included with the machine you will get: milk carafe, water filter, cleaning brush, coffee measuring scoop, and of course the instructions you need to get started. So you’re pretty set to go and make your first cup of coffee out of the box. And if you’re not into this stainless steel look, the machine is also available in black.

By the way, if you want the coffee cups in the picture, they’re the Bodum Pavina double-wall glasses.
